At BU we pride ourselves on offering your child, or children, a firm grounding in pre-school education. They are the undergraduates and postgraduates of the future so it's important they get the best start possible to their education.
The University can support this challenge by offering flexible childcare for children aged 3 months to 5 years, between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays. Situated on the Talbot Campus, our partnership with Bright Horizons has childcare available at Talbot Woods Day Nursery & Preschool.
Funding support
UK and international students can benefit from preferential rates at the Nursery, as well as any government grants that you may be eligible for to help pay for your childcare.
You can find out more about the 15 hours of free childcare scheme or other available childcare funding options on the Bright Horizons website, or reach out to the Bright Horizons Team to discuss what support might be available to you.
Please note that the minimum childcare place is for 0.5 days per week, the Talbot Woods Day Nursery & Preschool do not offer per-hour childcare.
Why Bright Horizons?
To help you be sure Bright Horizons Talbot Woods Nursery is the right place for your child, each member of the nursery team builds strong relationships with parents and children, with free settling in sessions also provided to ensure a smooth transition for you and your child.
Bright Horizons' bespoke curriculum puts children’s wellbeing at the centre of everything they do. Its holistic approach focuses on every facet of a child’s learning journey, equipping babies and toddlers with the skills they need to understand their own emotions and build resilience.
Bright Beginnings, while fully compliant with regulatory frameworks, goes beyond requirements to offer a far richer learning experience that will benefit every child in their care. You can read more about their curriculum which aims to inspire a life-long love of learning on their website.
The University and nursery are very much a partnership, encouraging every child’s ambitions. Don’t take our word for it, here’s what a current parent has to say:
A big thank you for helping my daughter to grow up in such a fun way and stimulate her curiosity! It is great to see her develop an interest for letters, numbers and writing (she is a big fan!) since she has started with you. It is also very cool to hear her describe her day and how much fun she has. She was singing in her bed last night a song from Frozen (this was really fun!). So again many thanks for caring for her and stimulate her!”
